Families are like...

Hello, summer is definitely here.

It was a scorcher today.   As usual, I had to get out of the office for lunch.  It is now too hot to have lunch in my car without using up my gas to keep cool.  There isn't a picnic table or shade at work that I can use, so I go in search of new little shops I haven't been to.

Today I checked out a thrift shop, I have driven by several times, and found this cute little print.  I think it will look nice in my sewing area.

Earlier this evening, or I guess I should say last night as it is after 1 a.m., I decided to try out an action shot or two.   While fueling up the car, David cleaned my windshield.   I think the pictures turned out pretty clear.

Then I got this shot as we were driving down Phoenix Ave.

That's all I have for now.

Here's wishing you a Fabulous Friday!

God bless and keep you,

What do you see?

Audre is home!  :)

She had a good time, but after a week away, she had the need to drive her car and to have pizza.  So we took off, after she got home, and had pizza for supper.

I'm glad my girl is home.   I missed her.   I think I had a tiny, little bit of a taste of what it must be like in the first of the empty nest stage.  :)

As we waited for her to come home today, David and I went antiquing/flea marketing today.  Here's what I found.

A vintage shot glass that looks like a thimble.
It has the caption "Only a thimble full".

Four hand sewn Cathedral Window quilt blocks.
With the right boarders they will make pretty wall hangings or place mats.

While we were out I took a picture of a cool looking church.   I like the look of the older churches, the architecture is so much better than what we often see today.

I also took some pictures of a couple of cloud formations.   I know what I see in them, what do you see?

Have a great weekend!
God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Fantastic Friday...

Good morning!

Fantastic Friday to you.  :)

I don't know about you but I'm glad it is Friday and the weekend is here.

Yesterday was the longest day of sunlight of the year, Summer Solstice, and David and I took advantage of it.  We went out to eat and played a round of put-put golf last night.    I took this picture as the sun was setting behind me and moon was rising.

As to the put-put golf... David won with a 33, that's 3 under pro par.  I shot a 45, amateur par.  I seem to have plateaued around that number... I'm going to have brush up on my putting skills and give David a run for his money.  :)

How did you spend your Summer Solstice?

Well, that's all I have this morning.  Got to get ready and go to work and try to make it through 'til 6 p.m.   Then I'll be free!  Free for the weekend. :)

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Hi Ya...

This morning, I was running behind, mostly due to checking Facebook.  Our youth group is at "camp" this week.  My daughter is with them and so as to not cramp her style, I am keeping up with them through Facebook instead of texting her every few hours.
Hello
They are having a blast, as far as I can tell.  :0)

Anyway, I was running behind and had to let my hair dry naturally.  Thus it was a fly-away, full of static mess today.  Normally I use a flat iron on it to tame the fly-away and the grays.

I had plans to work on the Log Cabin quilt tonight but when I got home, I sat down and very politely dozed off, thus no quilting was done.   Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

Here are some more pics of the newest additions to the flower garden.

Monday...

Feeling the full effect of Monday this morning, this how I started out at work.  The stress headache I had finally subsided by the afternoon.

On the way home this evening I saw the most vibrant rainbow I have ever seen.  It reminded me of Noah and how God took care of him and his family and how He takes care of His own to this very day.

Here's wishing you a terrific Tuesday!

Simple Pleasures

We tried out a new mini-golf course, for us, today.  It was very warm, but there was a breeze blowing that helped out with the heat.

We bought cold drinks to top it off, on the way home.   Audre had a chocolate shake, Dave had a Dr. Pepper and I enjoyed a strawberry shake.  Yummy!

Here are some new additions to my flower garden.

The Angel Wing Begonia is beginning to bloom.

Here is the first Asiatic Lilly.  These are in a pot, and we have others that are much taller along the house that haven't bloomed yet.

The Tiger Lilies are blooming too.

David started some roses by seed and they have come up.   We even has tiny rose bud on one.

Just a few simple pleasures from today.

That's all I have for now.

Until next time...

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Finally Friday...

Well, it is finally Friday.  Thank goodness!

I should probably sign off and go to bed as I have to get up to go to work in about six hours.  But... you know I'm a night owl and will be up for bit more.

I have a short work day today, as I am taking a 1/2 day of vacation and will be leaving at my lunch break.  It won't be all fun and games though, I have to take care of some business.  It will be nice though to get it done then have the rest of the afternoon off.  :)

The week has gone fairly quickly which has been a blessing too.

I've had heavy burdens on my heart this week but I have a peace deep within, knowing God will see me through.  I don't know how I could stand under the weight of it all without Him.

Here's wishing you a fantastic Friday!

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Wonders

I saw a road runner on the way to work this morning.  It ran across the highway at top speed.  It seems there are small wonders all around us, if we just notice.

Speaking of wonders, I was able to get some pretty pictures from the top of Magazine Mountain, last weekend.

Recently I heard that Google Reader will be gone soon.  So I have added a Bloglovin' button on my sidewall to connect with my blog, if and when Reader goes away.  I like the Bloglovin, because you can get a summary of updates in your email and are able to view the blogs easier.  Check it out and post the button on your blog too, so that you won't loose readers.  :)

I guess that's all I've got this evening.

Until next time,

A special jewel in his crown...

Good morning,
Last night we received a call that one of our church members passed away.  As I understand it, it was sudden and not expected.

He was one of those people who made you feel welcome, each time you met him.   A rare person, indeed.

Every time my family would meet him, he always had a smile, and a warm handshake.  When he asked how you were doing, he meant it.  He always had a way to bring your spirit up, when you were feeling down.  He was always there to lend a helping hand.

He will always have a fond place in my family's mind as being genuine, always ready with a smile and a care in his heart for others.

His name is Bill Pugh.   I believe Bill is now in heaven, smiling bigger than ever before and is singing louder and more joyful than we can imagine.  I also believe the simple kindness that Bill showed while on this earth will give him a special jewel in his crown.

To all my prayer warrior friends, I know you are already praying for the Pugh family and I thank you for that.   If you would like to give Bill's wife, Betty, a few words of encouragement or send a prayer to her, please let me know, either by email or through Facebook and I will make sure she gets them.

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Static

Good morning!

I like to listen to Contemporary Christian music and that is what you will hear playing in my car 98% of the time, but there are days that I need to listen to Southern Gospel. This week has been one of those weeks.

The highway I drive to get to work is not always favorable for clear reception on the radio and this week there has been static mixed in with the music and sometimes coming through louder than or drowning out the music.

As I've been driving to work this week, listening to the music and the static until I get tired of it and turn it off, I realized it was a clear picture of life. We go through life and the things going on around us tend to throw a lot of static our way. So much so, that we often times only notice the static.

If we have a relationship with the Lord, we aren't facing the static alone.

~My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever. Psalm 73:26 (HCSB)

~Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 (NIV)

Have a great day!
