Pink/Mauve Fields...

Hello,

I've probably mentioned this before, but I need Sunday worship at church to get me ready for my week.

Can anyone relate?

I go through the week and by the time Saturday rolls around, I'm ready for inspiration and uplifting to start my new week out.  It seems no matter what, if I attend Sunday school, praise and worship service, I'm always ready for the work week to begin.

This evening I was truly blessed with a senior choir who visited my church and sang for us.  They are the Saints Alive, from 1st Baptist in Rogers, Ar.  Also the sermon was on Daniel in the lions den.  If you ever wonder if God takes care of His people, read Daniel chapter 6.

Right now I'm listening to a Christmas CD, I found for $1.99 at a SAVERS store. It was a good find.  I'm always looking for good Christmas music to play during the season.

The other day as my husband and I were traveling down the road and I saw fields of pink/mauve.  No, I was not on an hallucinogenic.  :)   It is some kind of grass that grows and the tops have a pink/mauve hue in the right kind of sunlight.   Here's a picture of it...

David took some pictures later in the week.  I like this one with the fish.  It is almost camouflaged.

I also liked this picture he took.

SPOOKY   ;)

As I was out on the shop floor doing an inspection one day this past week, this is what I saw.  It had been standing on its own since the night before.

WEEKLY RECIPE
I know it has been a week or two since I last posted a recipe and I apologize for that.  :)
David cooked something for lunch the other day that was awesome.

Dave's Roasted Veggies
3 fresh crowns of broccoli, chopped
3 large carrots, peeled and sliced thinly
1/4 onion, coarsely chopped
1/2 bell pepper coarsely chopped
6 slices bacon, fried and chopped
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/2 - 1 cup of shredded cheese (your choice)
Greek seasoning to taste
Cayenne to taste
Olive oil

Combine all veggies on a baking pan, lightly pour olive oil over veggies, add seasonings, stir to evenly coat all the veggies with oil and seasoning.  Roast in oven at 375° F for 30 minutes.  In the last 5 minutes of roasting add the chopped bacon, pecans and shredded cheese.

That's all I have for now.   Here's wishing you a Marvelous Monday, as the new month starts.

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Seeing a pattern develop...

Hello,

My day started out dark.   So dark that I sent a text to my husband and some close friends asking them to pray for me because I was suffering from a dark spirit.   A little later in the morning I was talking to friend about it and asked her to pray also.  She asked if it could be from my job or circumstance with my family.  I told her I didn't think so and then began to talk it out.

I began to see a pattern.   The darkness has been trying to get me down for some time.  As I was telling her about it, I realized that each time I made a decision on a service for the Lord, the darkness would get worse.  I knew then it was satan working against me.   After all, he's not worried about the ones he already has.  One of his joys is to cause the children/followers of Jesus Christ to stumble.   Once I realized what I was against, I could, with the power of God, overcome it.   With my husband and friends praying and with my knowledge that satan has no true power over me, I was able to say "satan get behind me, Jesus Christ is master of my life and you have no power over me".   It's amazing how believing and speaking Jesus’ name, will make satan run.

Ephesians 6: 12-17 - 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

As you know, Autumn is my favorite season, so I decked out my cubicle today for this time of year.

We had a good night at AWANA.   Here we are in counsel time.

Each week we learn about a missionary.  Tonight we learned about missionaries in Thailand.

We also talked about making choices.

The verse for this evening was Matthew 7:7 "ask and it will be given you; seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you."

The further you go...

While traveling down life's road, the further you go, the more you know how precious your family is.

This evening I was blessed to see aunts and uncles I haven't seen in quite some time and my little niece.  I'm sharing the pics I took, though they were from my phone and didn't turn out very well, but I love my family and want share them with you.

As I get more pictures of the rest of my family, I'm sure I will share them too.  :)

My husband went for a drive today and took some pics.  His pictures are always better than mine.  :)

I think its because his camera is better than mine.  lol

A message from above...

Hello,

I believe there are times when words or songs are sent your way to give you a message.   That happened to me this evening.

I've been down in body and spirit of late.   A friend sang a song in church this evening that lifted my spirit.  She didn't know I needed it, but God did.

I looked and found the song on youtube.com to share with you.  I hope you are blessed by it.

Here's wishing you a great week!!

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Happy First Day of Autumn

Hello!  Aren't you glad Autumn is here?  I sure am.  Autumn is my favorite time of the year.

Here is the Sedum in my garden blooming for the season.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I worked in my sewing area this afternoon... You know how it is... it gets cluttered up from time to time.  So I de-cluttered the area so that I can get some sewing done.   Got side tracked from time to time by patterns and such... got started hand sewing a ornament... then got back on track again.

Finally I was able to sit down and sew.   I have two work shirts (blue and green) that have been put aside for recycle due to them being stained up.  Today, I decided to cut them up and make one good shirt out of them.

The blue shirt was bleach splotched at the bottom.  The green shirt was stained at the top .

So I cut the bottom off the blue shirt and cut the top off the green shirt, then took the remaining good pieces and sewed them together.  I tried it on and it still fits. It has a color block look and now I can wear it to work with out the staining.

Work in Progress

Hello, it was another beautiful day.

As I walked in to work this morning I took this picture.

Then as I walked back from lunch I took this one.

As you can tell, my mind was not at work with me.  :)

Work In Progress

I am working on a hand quilted, appliqued small quilt.   My stitches are not perfect and they are not small, but I know with practice, they will get there.  :)   I plan to quilt the rest of it in Autumn colors, in a echo type pattern.  Here's what I've got so far.

Three and always bringing a smile

Hello,

I have to share a funny with you.   This evening I was visiting my parents, and my youngest brother, sister-n-law and nephew were visiting them too.

My nephew is three.    He asked me put a puzzle together with him on the floor.   So I get down on the floor with him.   My mom asked why I didn't pull a little table over and then I could sit in a chair and put the puzzle together on the table.   I replied "because he is three and likes to play on the floor", at which point my little nephew says "hers a good woman".

A few blogs back I showed a picture of a plant that is growing in a big pot outside.  I thought it was a watermelon... boy was I wrong.

Today, as I was driving to my parents' house, I saw a truly beautiful scene.

Imagine if you will, short mountains with dark clouds behind them in northeast.  The sun is shining from the west, lighting up the southwestern sides of the mountains.  All the trees are brilliant in greens of various hues.   A small flock of birds take flight.  The white color of their wings sparkles against the dark sky.

Sure wish I had pulled over and took a picture to share with you.

I guess that's it for tonight.

Here's wishing you a terrific Tuesday!

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Diet kicked the bucket, but I enjoyed every bite :)

Hi,

Today the LORD has blessed me with another beginning of a new year of life.  September is a special month to me for more than one reason.  It's my physical birth month and it is my spiritual birth month.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
NIV - 2 Corinthians 5:17

So I'm physically 45 and spiritually 16 years old this month.

My day started out with my husband cooking breakfast - biscuits, gravy and scrambled eggs.  Yummy!

Then we had pizza for lunch.  Yummy again!

Then for our evening meal, he fixed one of my favorites - taco salad.  YUMMY!

If you haven't already noticed.... my attempts at healthy eating was thrown out the door today, but I enjoyed every bite.

I just finished off, my selection for "birthday cake" - strawberry swirl cheesecake.  Yep, the diet kicked the bucket with that yummy slice.

My hubby and kids gave me cute and humorous birthday cards.  One of the many blessing I've been given is smiles and laughter throughout my life.

I also got a cover/carrying case for my sewing machine.  I've been wanting one for a while.  It will come in handy the next time I have a quilting day and have to take one of my machines with me.

I received a surprise visit today too.  My mom and dad along with one of my aunts and her boyfriend, dropped by the house today to wish me happy birthday.  My dad sang the happy birthday song to me.  I'll never be too old for that.  : )

Thank you to all my friends and family who have called, emailed and posted happy birthday wishes!!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It was a beautiful day today and earlier I took this picture of my ground cover rose.  I'm amazed at how resilient it is.

David got this close up of a grasshopper,

and here is another "fickle-stick" ring I made.

My daughter and I went to the library this morning.  I'm reading a new author for me.  The book is titled The Duchess and the Dragon by Jamie Carie.

I think it is going to be good.

Here's a trailer about it.   http://youtu.be/M-gQpd8TnqE

I guess that's it for now.

Have blessed Sunday!

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Special Edition...

Hello,

We had another storm blow through this evening and it brought cooler temperatures with it.  It was in the upper 90s this afternoon and now it is 74°.  I'm glad to see the cooler temps and the rain, we have another line moving our way and are under a sever thunderstorm warning until midnight.

Okay... enough weather talk.  :)

My husband and I went flea marketing today.

I found this dish.  I like the way it looks.

It has a diamond cut type pattern on the bottom and vertical cuts on the side walls.  I like too, that it has silver lid.   Believe it or not, I got it for under $3.  The vendor was having a major sale.

I also found an interesting newspaper.

 It was a special edition.

I took a picture and then tried to find out more about it when I got home.   I wasn't able to find much, but I think it is from 1940 - 1943.  I know it came from Chicago and I'm guessing it is the 25th edition.  It had Chicago 25 in the line right above the bold front page article,

OPPORTUNITY FOR WOMEN TO EARN $23.00 WEEKLY!

Boy, how times have changed.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Next week, at work, we begin to have to wear our ID/security badges full time.

I don't like wearing a lanyard around my neck so I decided to use a zip reel (I guess that's what you call it).  : )

They are plain looking so I decide to dress it up.

I took four felt flower shapes and stitched them together and then super glued them to the reel.

I'm thinking about making more to change out for the holidays.

Hope all going well in your neck of the woods.  I guess that's all I have for this evening.

Have a great weekend!

God bless and keep you,
Sonia
