Only with thine eyes...
Hello!
It was slow at work today, so I asked to have the afternoon off. I could be more productive here at home than at work.
I'm glad I did. I was able to do some catching up on the log cabin quilt I need to get finished by Christmas.
Earlier in the week, I tried my hand at a mini scrapbook. I've been wanting to do a scrapbook for each of my kids, but have been a little intimidated about it. I've been collecting things of my kids since they were babies... so I have a lot of material to work with. I've also been buying up scrapbook tools and accessories as I find them on clearance or in a flea market, etc.
Earlier today Paula, a lady I work with, showed me one of the scrapbooks she has done. She is really into the scrapbook thing and was able to give me pointers and show me how to go about laying out a page and such. Now I'm not as intimidated about it as I was.
Here is my first scrapbook. It is a mini book using ID tag sleeves, for some reason I had some in my craft supplies. The little book is on the seasons of the year.
I think the next scrapbook I make will be showcasing some of the quilts I've made. I plan to practice on smaller books until I get the hang of it. Then I will start on the books for my kids.
I would welcome any scrapbook "tips of the trade" if you have any to share. :)

The other day I saw a sign in one of the antique/flea market shops I was in and thought it was cute. I could totally relate to what it was saying.
That's all I have for now.
Here's wishing you a Fantastic Friday!
God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Blessings...
Hello, I trust you are having a beautiful weekend. :)
Today, I'm feeling run down, congested and with a sinus headache... I only tell you that to share the blessing I had this morning.
At my church there are two huge banners hanging on the walls of the sanctuary, one on each side. The banners are there for people to write a blessing they have or the reason for the blessing.
Feeling the way I feel today, I wasn't feeling blessed and didn't really have the energy to participate much in way of singing and such. But as I listened to the other voices lifted in praise, I knew that no matter how I feel, the Lord still blesses. I know that because I was blessed by the harmony lifted up in praise.
That's how blessings are. Some are huge unforgettable blessings like a healing of a sickness; others are smaller like the harmony of voices lifted in praise. No matter the size or type of blessing, a blessing is always touching and significant for that moment in your life.
I pray I never lose sight of the blessings I'm given.
The leaves are beginning to change color here in Arkansas. I hope we have a beautiful showing of Autumn colors this year.
Here are a couple of pictures I took in my neighborhood. The colors aren't very bright yet, but I hope they get that way.
Well, the sinus pill I took is kicking in and I'm getting drowsy. I'll sign off for now.
Have a beautiful day!
God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Something New...
Hello, earlier in the week one of the ladies I work with brought a wreath she created for another lady to work. I was inspired.
The wreath was made with deco mesh. So I decided to try my hand at using the new (to me) wonderful product called deco mesh.
Here is my first deco mesh wreath.
This wreath is on a single round frame. I'm thinking of making a Christmas wreath with a round frame with two or three levels.

This month is full of birthday's in my family. This past week my granddaughter turned six and my husbands parents each had a birthday. My mom-n-law loves to read, so I made her a bookmark.
Next week is my sister and husband's birthdays.

My son has been practicing his violin for the past hour. That's how it is at my house, if it's not guitar, it's drums, violin, keyboard or piano. It is usually guitar music though. I can't imagine not having music in my life.
I believe music is a gift and talent from God. I also believe God enjoys music and that is where we get the joy of music from. Here is a verse from the Bible on using music to praise the Lord.
~ Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD! Psalm 150:1-6 ~
I think there will be music in heaven. What do you think?
God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Catching up...
Hello!
It's been a few days. There has been a lot going on.
This past weekend was the Frontier's Day Festival. It started with a parade. It was a breezy but muggy morning. Later in the day, it rained hard and the temps dropped.
The quilt guild I belong to, The Logan County PieceMakers, had a quilt show.
You can view all the quilts at http://aquiltingsouthpawsthoughts.blogspot.com/p/quilts_28.html
We had a good show and "People's Choice" winners for the best wall hanging and best quilt.
A couple of our guild members had a booth at the quilt show. They own the Crooked Creek quilt shop in Greenwood, AR. You can learn more about them at http://crookedcreekquiltshop.com/
We also gave away the beautiful butterfly quilt. Elda, a co-worker, won the quilt. It was fun anticipating her reaction to winning the quilt, over the weekend. Kathy and I presented the quilt to her on Monday morning. We set it on her desk with the ticket she had purchased, and then we waited in the next cubicle for her to arrive. Suddenly we heard "Gasp, oh my goodness..."
Elda told us the quilt had been on her mind all weekend and she wondered why I hadn't called her yet. I had to chuckle at that.
I had a pleasant surprise on Friday. I received a book, book mark and a book of comic postcards in relation to historical events and quilts. I won the book in a giveaway Carla Gade had on her blog. You can learn more about Carla at http://www.carlaolsongade.com/ Carla sent the book of postcards as a little something for my birthday, which I thought was very nice.
On the way to work this morning, just as the sun was rising, I topped a hill on 309 overlooking a valley where you can see farm land and the Arkansas River.
This morning I saw nothing but fog filling the valley. It was like a lake of fluff. The fog was so thick you could see nothing else and as I drove down into the valley and the fog I realized that anyone topping the hill would not be able to see me either. It was as if I had the road all to myself. :)
That catches me up, I think...
Until next time...
God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Lives pieced together,
Stitched with smiles and tears,
Colored with memories,
And bound by love. ~
