What A Friend...

Hi,

Today was a true Spring like day.  It was warm and rainy.  I love the sound and smell of rain.

Yesterday, when I walked out of the office I had a pleasant surprise.   I heard the song "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" being played by a nearby church's bells.   I couldn't help but sing along with them. :)

I finished another dishcloth this week.

It will be paired with the dishcloth I made a week or so ago.

I'm glad it is Friday and am so ready for the weekend.  I plan to sleep in, in the morning.   I will also be working on the Log Cabin quilt this weekend.   With the rainy weather, it will be good to sew, nap and read a good book.

I started a new book on my lunch break today.  I think it is going to be a good one.  :)

Awesome!

Awesome!

That was my first thought when I saw the package sitting on the couch, as I walked into the house after work last night.  Like a kid at Christmas, I couldn't  wait to open it up.

It was addressed from Jedi Craft Girl and I knew what it was going to be.  About a month ago there was a giveaway on Jedi Craft Girl's blog.  I put my name in and was blessed with the winning.

Here is the beautiful quilt I received.

Somehow, over the years, I have acquired bird houses.   I do not collect bird houses, but it seems I have received several of them over the years.  I'm visualizing this beautiful little quilt hanging on a wall with the bird houses in front of it.   Wouldn't that be a cute setting?

Easter, it is one of my favorite holidays.

What an awesome celebration to have.  The celebration of the Risen Savior!

In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.  And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.  His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.  He is not here: for He is risen, as He said.  Come see the place where the Lord lay.  And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead; and , behold, He goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.  And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.  And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail.  And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped Him. ~ Matthew 28:1-9

This Sunday, as you celebrate Easter, remember Jesus is alive and we need to keep sharing His word with others.

Thanks!

Friday:  this morning after my Bible study time, I checked my email.  I realized that I had not looked at it for a few days and boy did I have the emails!   I would up deleting three pages of emails consisting of things I get as daily updates and of course there is always junk mail.   As I was cleaning out my email I heard the rain falling on the roof.  It was coming down hard and I prayed it would let up before I had to drive to work. Thankfully it did.

I'm typing this section during my lunch break, as it is too chilly and damp for liking to go out.   I thought I'd share my cubicle with you.  I'm not allowed to decorate, like I did at my last job, but that's okay.  I have brought in a little bit of color with my mug rug; a little clock and the tissue box.

I also have my one of my favorite quotes hanging on my wall.

~Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God's grace, and your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of  God's grace.~

The office did a fund raiser for Relay for Life and served soups, salad, rolls and desert, all for $5.00.  I had a potato soup.  It was different from any potato soup I've had in the past.  It had potatoes, carrots, mushrooms and I think some ham and rosemary.  I also got a peanut butter cookie.  It was yummy.

On Wednesday, I felt like I had to get out of the office.  On my lunch break I went to a flea market/antique shop, just down the road from the office.  While I was there, I found a booth that had everything 75% office.  I bought this cute little patriotic bunny and ornaments.

Can you guess how much I spent?
$2.10,  $0.42,  $1. 05,  $0.84

Today:  it has been a damp rainy day.   I got the rest of the fabrics, for my Log cabin quilt, cut today.  Thank goodness!

The pattern is Log Cabin with a Chain and I realized that I will have to sew the contrasting 2 inch blocks to some of the longer strips, before I can begin quilting the blocks as I go.

My parents came over for a visit, with my second cousin, CW.  He is around 12 years old.

We played the game of bowling and it was a lot of fun.  :)

CW won the first game and my Dad won the second game.

My Mom brought a scarf she made for me to wear.   It goes well with this blouse.  I think she did an awesome job.  Thanks Mom!  :)

I guess that's all I have for now.

Here's wishing you a wonderful weekend!!

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Second Chances...

I believe God gives us second chances and sometimes in the smallest ways.

For example, earlier today, I prepared a document to be mailed out.  I wrote the address on a new envelope and put the document in the envelope and sealed it up.   Then, I found the pre-addressed and stamped envelope that was provided for the document to be returned in.   So I tore open the envelope I just sealed up, pulled the document out and realized I had not signed the document.   I instantly thought "Divine Intervention", because the document had to be signed and I normally would have sent the first envelope I sealed.  I'm glad He intervened at that moment. :)

Thinking of second chances and how gracious the LORD is, even when I hold tight to His hand or let go and try to walk on my own, He is still faithfully holding my hand - never giving up on me.

I read Micah 7:18-19 ~ Who is a God like You, who pardons sins and forgives the transgressions of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.  You will again have compassion on us; You will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.

Just like God forgave the Israelites, when they strayed, He forgives us today.

Tonight, the Logan County PieceMakers Quilt Guild met.   We didn't have a lot of show and tell, but here are pictures of what was brought.

Here is a block that will be the center block for a king sized quilt.  It was hand appliqued.

This is a cross stitched wall hanging.

Here is a cute apron, one of the ladies made.

Some time back, I received an email that I had won a print from one of the bloggers I follow.   I received it in the mail over the weekend.

I like the colors and the Bible verse that is printed on it.   Now all I need to do is get a frame for it.

Sunbeam and Moonbeam...

My first week, at work, went fast.   I learned a lot and I think I'm going to like working there.   The environment is totally different than what I have been exposed too, in the past few years.  It is peaceful and the group I am part of is very team oriented.

I get an hour for lunch, and after 20+ years of 30 minute lunches, I have had to figure out what to do with my extra time.  So, I take crochet work or knook work with me and work on it during the second half of my lunch break.   Here is a dish cloth I completed this week.

I use to be able to come home for lunch, but can't now, due to working in another town.   I didn't realize how much I would miss my husband. The beginning of the week was rough for me in that area of my life, it was like I lost my best friend, but a few texts and phone calls on my lunch hours, helped out.  :)

This week, the Lord blessed us with the blooming of the daffodils in my flower garden.  I also have one hyacinth left and it bloomed too.

And why take ye thought for raiment?  Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ~ the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:28-29

Next week is Spring Break, here in Arkansas.  We will not be having AWANA, but will the next week and will be having a Easter egg hunt for the kids.   Today I bought plastic eggs and filled them with candy.  I will deposit them in the collection box at church this weekend.   While filling the eggs, it brought back memories of when my kids were little and how they liked to hunt for the eggs.   Precious memories.

St. Patrick's day is upon us.   So I leave you with an Irish blessing.

May God grant you always...
A sunbeam to warm you,
A moonbeam to charm you,
A sheltering angel, so nothing can harm you.

Treasures...

Good morning,

The new job is going good.  There is a lot to learn, but each day is getting easier.

Yesterday morning, I saw a beautiful sunset in my rear view mirror.   It was the first time I've seen a sun rise in a long time.

I visited with my parents after work and on the way home, around 8:30, I saw the moon in the sky.  It was a sliver turned up as if it were a smile.

As I drove home, I thought about the sunrise and the moon smile and was reminded of how God gives us treasures every day.

Let me introduce...

A couple of days ago I mentioned new things going on at my church.   Let me catch you up.  :)

I would like to introduce to you our new Pastor and his family.

Br. Harlin, his wife Carrie, and their three children.
I'm very happy they are with us.  They have already been a blessing to us and I, as well as others, am looking forward to the journey we have with them.

This evening we had open house in the Youth Department.  There has been a lot of work going on up there (second floor) and it looks great.

I'd like to give a shout out to all the those who contributed financial support, to the workers and the youth who made it such an awesome place for the youth to meet and hang out.

THANK YOU!!

I took some pics to share with you.

There was homemade ice cream of all different kinds of flavors.   I had the Butter Finger flavored ice cream.  It was the first time I had that flavor ice cream and let me tell you it was delicious!

People gathered together for fellowship and the tasty ice cream.

First they picked up their ice cream cups and spoons.

There were free t-shirts given away to show our appreciation to the church for their support in the update of the Youth Department.

Here are pics of the updated Youth department.

Here are our classrooms.

Music Room

I'm thinking about making a quilted, music themed, wall hanging for the Music Room.   However, it will have to wait until I get the Log Cabin quilt done.

Razorback Room

Creation Room

Here are pics of the Game room side.   We are also using this side for class time, at this time.  I believe we will be splitting up into smaller classes soon, as our group is continually growing.

Ping Pong Room

As you can tell the youth enjoy this area on Sunday afternoons.  :)

If you are a child of God you are not alone.
You are always surrounded by the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
So as St. Patrick's day draws near,
and you see clovers green, remember the Holy Trinity.

Who ever believes that Jesus is the Chris is born of God: and every one that loves Him that begat loves Him also that is begotten of Him.  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep His commandments.  For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous.  For what ever is born of God over comes the world: and this is the victory that over comes the world, even our faith.  Who is he that over comes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God:  This is He that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ, not by water only, but by water and blood.  And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
~ 1 John 5:1-7

Before I sign off this evening, I want to wish you a wonderful week ahead full of blessing.

Please remember me in prayer, as I start my new job in the morning.

Until next time,
