Simple pleasures

Hi, while driving to Fort Smith this afternoon I thought of a few pictures I've taken in the last week.  The rains have brought on new growth and animal activity.

Black birds enjoying a springtime bath.

Thinking of the pictures, made me think of how life can be when you trust God to lead your life and follow His will.  Each day is a new beginning.  I was also inspired by a Bible verse I read yesterday.

Psalm 16:11 (KJV) Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Another pretty scene on Hwy 64.
These pictures depict one of the simple pleasures of life ~ enjoying God's beautiful creation.

Oats to Tools

This morning I finished off a container of quick oats.  I needed something for my set of screwdrivers and a few other tools.  Instead of buying something to hold them I decided to up cycle the empty oatmeal container.

So I picked out fabric that was heavier, like a lightweight denim. Using pinking shears I cut a piece of fabric the size needed to cover the oatmeal container.  I used paperclips to hold the fabric in place as I rolled the container to get the correct length.

Using a hot blue gun, I glued the fabric to the container, securing it down the side, the bottom and over the top rim.

Then I added my tools.

The lid was left over, so I decided to re-purpose it too.   I traced it out on the fabric, then cut it out with pinking shears and put the cut circle on the top of the lid.  Then I added three round magnets on the backside of the lid, making it a fridge magnet.

This was easy to do and went quick.  You could use scrapbook paper instead of fabric.  I decided to keep it simple in style, but you could decorate a container like as much as you want.

Pretty colors...

It has been rainy for most of the day, but it was a good sign after the fires that were going on yesterday.

When we left Paris yesterday, there was smoke everywhere.  It looked like it started south of town and I wondered if it was on the mountain.   We drove out of the smoky area by the time we were in Charleston.   A few hours later, Fort Smith was filled with smoke.   I caught this picture on our way out of Fort Smith heading back home.  The sunset clouds through the smokey haze.

I saw where this smoke started from, it was south of Charleston.

By the time we were back in Paris, most of the smoke had cleared, though the mountain still had a smokey haze hovering.

With it being rainy today, I guess you could say I was a little lazy.  I didn't worry about much make up, just put on some mascara and a little lipstick and took a selfie showing my new haircut.  I lost about three inches in length.  As you can see, I'm in my favorite room of the house, my sewing room.

After that I took a picture of this partial pieced quilt top.  I've been trying to figure out what I want to do with it.  This is another pieced item I acquired from someone else in years past.

It has a lot of pretty colors but isn't very big,  So, I will most likely square it off and add a few borders to give it a little more size.

That gets me caught up, I think.  :)

Wishing you a great day!

He is not here...

Hi, I trust you had a blessed Easter.

I have to say, I was blessed by The Glory of Easter program my church did this weekend.  I walked away from it, knowing that because I know Jesus Christ as my Savior, my life is a celebration no matter my circumstances.   This is something that I tend to forget sometimes.

I think in my last blog I mentioned a watercolor I was going to start.  I started it yesterday morning and finished is late this afternoon.  It is inspired by the Easter holiday.

Have a great week!

Unsettled... settled

Have you ever had one of those days where you felt unsettled?

That's how my day was.

I finally settled down and decided what to do.  I'm caught up on any quilting projects I had, so I decided to do a watercolor.  Actually the watercolor idea came to me this morning, I just wasn't sure what to do.

Because of it being Easter weekend, it finally came to me earlier this evening.  So, I did a sketch.  I will start with the watercolors tomorrow.

Sonia
