I don't have a dog...

Hello,

I spent most of today in a safety conference held at the AR Tech in Russellville, Arkansas.  It was a very informative meeting.  I will be sharing the info with our employees at work.

They always have door prizes at the safety conference and I won two bags of dog food.

I don't have a dog but my parents have 4 little Chihuahuas, so I will be giving the food to them.

Something Different...

Hello,
I thought I'd try something different tonight, craft wise.

I had some old Cd's, glue dots, stars, glass rocks and some glitter and thought I'd make a sun catcher.

Not sure that is quite my bag... if you know what I mean.    Here it is.

Hope it looks better in the morning light.  It is on the East side of my house, so the sunrise will hit it.  :)

I have two more Cd's to try something different with.... I'm thinking of drawing a design with glue then covering it with glitter to see how it does.

Got any suggestions?

1925...

Those of you ho know me well, know that I am into vintage and antique stuff.   Well, today I got a surprise from my husband and two kids.

This year David and my anniversary is the same day as Mother's day, so today he and my son and daughter decided to go ahead and give me my Mother's Day/Anniversary gift.    I was beside myself!

I open my eyes to a 1925 Singer sewing machine in its original case and it works!   This little machine is beautiful to me.   It is all original from the cloth wire insulation to the cherry wood case.   There also was a wooden spool, the original bobbins and an ornate, gold and silver thimble.

I went to Singer.com and put in the serial number and got my certificate of authenticity.  I also searched for a manual, but will have to call them tomorrow as they do not machine names for machines that early.  I will have to give them the serial number in order to find the manual.

David looked the case over inside and out and is pretty sure its cherry wood.

The Singer name looks like gold leaf to me.

Here it is....  This little baby has been used and that's part of its character.

In the years this was first used, you could get patterns for $0.15.

Then just four years later the stock market crashed and the Great Depression began.

It has beautiful scroll work, chrome on the head and  gold on the plate and wheel.

Here is the original electric and pedal.

Here's the thimble.  It is stamped Gold 10 and Silver.  I wiped it off, but was afraid to clean it with a jewelry cleaner... I didn't want to remove the patina.

I guess that's it.... to high on cloud nine now, to write about anything else.  :)

Have a terrific Tuesday!

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Hit the road...

Today, my daughter and I hit the road again in search of a flea market we haven't been to yet.  We also went to a couple we have been to before and liked.

I found a Fire King saucer to go with my mug and bowl I received a few years ago.  I found it in Fort Smith at a place called "Remember When".

We then took off to Alma and went through two places there, "Angels Crossing" and "Sisters 2".

As we walked through one of the flea markets, the musician in my daughter found a violin.  She thought about jammin' out, but didn't want to blow anybody's mind. LOL

On the way home we enjoyed a milk shake from Braum's.   She had chocolate and I had strawberry.

Very YUMMY!  :)

A Little Fog...

Today, started out foggy but turned sunny later.  It's amazing how much the world changes between fog and not.

You know...?  That's how it is with us sometimes.   Our world gets in a fog and everything, except what is closest to us like hurt, anger or want, goes out of focus.  We wonder around in the fog, lost, tripping through our days, waiting for the fog to lift.

"if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 (ASV)

Squishy!

Hi,
this morning I walked into to work with my new little stress buddy.

My new little buddy hangs on my cubicle wall, ready to be of service.   It was squeezed and tossed by my new boss and then it had the day lights squeezed out of it by my coworker and yes, I'll admit I shook it around just for the fun of it.   It is really squishy!

Yesterday, my friend Charlotte, brought me my Hoffman challenge fabric.   I have looked through book after book and nothing inspired me.

However, inspiration hit today.   I can't tell you what yet, or show you until I get it finished, but I will give you a clue.   It is not going to be geometric.

David brought in a bunch of radishes this morning.

The little song "One of these things are not like the others..." went through my mind.  :)
