Beads and more beads

I've had a bracelet and a pin that needed repair.  I was able to repair them last night, and while I was at it I decided to work or start work on a couple of beading projects.

I received a bracelet, handed down from one of my aunts the other day.  It was made of agate beads and small gold beads.  It had been stretched out over the years and needed to be restrung.  When I was in local craft store, I found swarvorzki crystal beads that I thought would look good with the agate beads.   I restrung the bracelet with crystal and agate beads alternating.  The original clasp was no longer functioning properly, so I added magnetic clasps.

I had a few beads left over and made this.  I haven't decided if I will add it to my key chain or crochet a ribbon to it and use it as a book mark.

I have also had these purple beads for some time and bought the leaf pendant to go with them.  Needless to say the pendant and beads have sat in a container waiting for me to do something with them.  So I started on them last night.   I still have beads left and think I will have enough beads left over to make a matching bracelet.

That's the beading side of my life.  I plan to try to finish up the necklace tomorrow and start on a small quilt.

Here's wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Happy Autumn!

What better way to start the first day of Autumn than with a yummy bowl of peach cobbler for breakfast?

That's exactly how I started my day.   David made a peach cobbler from scratch yesterday.  He didn't have a recipe but it turned out delicious.  I have asked him to write down how he made it, so that we can make it again.   I know he used fresh peaches and that alone will make it yummy from the start.

I've updated the "What is it?"  page.  Check it out and give me your guess.

Also check out the "Giveaway" page, it has been updated too.

Finally Finished

Finally after a very long time, lessons learned, and contemplation of how this quilt is a picture of life, I finally have the Log Cabin quilt done.

I have also been busy with some crochet projects of late.  I have updated the Crochet, Etc page with a little car seat afghan I finished last night.  Check it out and let me know what you think.  :)

Here's another one I've been working on. I used up some specialty yarn and added borders.  It is more rectangular in shape at 23" X 36" and I'm thinking of adding more the border on the sides to make it wider.

If you don't have a gift bag when you need one, consider using a plain white bag and decorating it.
This is what I had to do for a recent gift.

My next project will be a small quilt and I will post instructions for it on the Quilts Etc page when I get it planned out.  I'm getting close to also posting on the My Walk page soon.

This evening after church I caught this picture of the clouds in the sunset.  On the drive home the clouds were lit up more from the sun and reminded me of pink cotton candy.  As you can the see the sun was set lower by the time I got home, but the clouds were still pretty.

As a sign Autumn is near, the Naked Ladies have bloomed in my flower bed.  They are an unusual flower with no leaves on the stems, but pretty.

Hope to hear back from you.

I hope to have the others updated soon.

Quilted Coat

Have you ever had something like spring fever in autumn?

I feel like a squirrel that's as cracked as the nut it is trying to get into.

High energy within is held at bay from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  By the time I can spend the energy, after 5 p.m, I am so beat down from the hours before I don't have the pep in my step to do it.  It's not a physical beat down but a mental one.

It was very warm outside today, so I sat at my desk and ate lunch.  While I was eating I thought to myself "I should have brought some small hand work like crocheting or a small hand quilted project like ornaments or a Christmas stocking  This is a way I could use up some of this creative energy brewing inside".

I had a book to read, it's a good story, but when I"m in this frame of mind it is hard for me to stay focused on the story.  I tried reading after I ate, but after a few paragraphs my mind began wondering.  So I began to type.

You've guessed it, I started on this during my lunch break.

Yesterday David met me in Ozark and we spent my lunch hour together.  We went to a flea market that Audre and I discovered last week when she and I spent lunch together.

$1.00
I found a cute little Santa Clause with a quilted coat.  I think he is adorable.
I also found an angel by Jim Shore.  She is from his 2002 collection.  I've always like Jim Shore's creations and was tickled when I found this one.

$4.98
Needless to say I enjoyed my lunch break.  I use to get to spend lunch with David everyday, but with my current job it doesn't happen very often.

Thank goodness the weekend is near.  I'm so ready for it.

Sonia

Stopped for a moment...

On the way to work this morning, I rounded a small curve and a coyote shot out of a thicket on the side of the road and ran lightning fast across the highway in front of me.  I know that coyotes can be pests and often times are not wanted but this one was a beauty.  I don’t know if I startled it as I rounded the curve or if it was running from something, but it was moving fast.  There were a lot of crows or ravens out and about this morning too.  I don’t usually see as many as I saw this morning.   I think it was a good sign that Autumn is close.

After I’d been at work for about an hour, it began to rain.   I had to go downstairs for some documents and as I came back upstairs the rain was coming down hard enough for me to hear it in the stairwell.  I stopped for a moment and enjoyed the sound.

Though I'm physically at work, on lunch break,  I'm at home in heart and spirit.  With it being a rainy day, it is the perfect day to be in my sewing room and then later curling up with a good book.

Hope your day is going well.

Until next time...
Hugs,
Sonia
