Remember?

Do you remember this song?

That is what was going through my mind most of this morning as the rain poured down at work. To top it off, at one point I closed a draw on my desk harder than I thought and a picture came of my cubicle wall and knocked over my cup of coffee.  My desk was soaked and so were a few other things.  I cleaned it up as quickly as I could but here is the damage that was left over.  I had to let a few things dry out.

I looked at my calendar today and counted free days.  Free days are what I call when I have time after work or on the weekend to work on projects before Christmas.  I counted them up and have 79 free days to get the Log Cabin quilt, and any other projects I have, done before Christmas.   Yikes! I am going to have to dedicate some time on each of the 79 days to make sure I get done on time.

Changing Winds...

Do you ever have the feeling of changing winds in your life?

I do.   The last time I had that feeling was a few weeks before my last job position was eliminated.

I have that feeling again, only this time it is not with my job.

I've had this feeling for a few months, but it has gotten stronger over the past two weeks.   The Lord is preparing me for something and whatever it is, I'm cool with it, because essentially it is not about me but about God and living my life in His will the best I can.

You know I enjoy the beauty of God's creation, well here are some pics.  I'm not sure what type of flowers these are but God sure did make them pretty.  :)

FAT CAT?

I got this picture of Elvis the other day.  He happened to look up just as I snapped the picture.

We started Vacation Bible School tonight.

We had 108 students for our first night and I thought that was an awesome way to start the week.  We will be having VBS through Wednesday.   Tonight is the only night that I am able to participate the full 2 1/2 hours of service as my job will have me going in late the rest of the week.

We are teaching on 2 Timothy 1:7 and using the story of Paul as an example of how with God all things are possible and we can face anything.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. ~ 2 Timothy 1:7

That's all I have for now.

Here's wishing you a wonderful week!

God bless and keep you,

A week of smiles

Hello, I trust your week is going good.

On this side it has been a week of smiles, laughter and good fellowship.   My brother-n-law Terry and sister-n-law Sandy were in visiting.   It is always a blessing to see them.

We also welcomed our new nephew Mason, born over the weekend, and enjoyed seeing our great nieces and nephews.

Tuesday we had a "Girls Day Out" of shopping.  We hit several thrift and consignment shops.  All of us found something to take home.  I found a pair of slacks and a cute Christmas ornament.

One day this week, I received a package in the mail.   I had won fat quarters from a giveaway that Kris was having on her blog. You can check her blog out here  http://thequiltinggarden.blogspot.com/

Here are the fat quarters she sent.

I truly like them and am trying to decide what to make with them.

This evening the sun cast a orange glow in the sky.  I took this picture across the pasture in front of my house.

I also saw a single rainbow this evening but didn't get a picture of it but one of my friends on Facebook got a picture of a double rainbow.  You don't see many double rainbows.

Until next time...
God bless and keep you,
Sonia

Saturday morning....

Good morning!

Just biding my time, waiting for customers at my yard sale, and I thought to myself "why not write as I wait"...  So here I am.  :)

We have little bit of everything, from musical instruments to exercise equipment.

We had a pretty good turn out yesterday, from what I understand, but this morning has been slow.  There's a nice breeze and I have a tarp set up for shade, to keep the sun from burning me up.

I even got see, just a few minutes ago as a matter of fact, a couple of friends I haven't seen in quite a while. That was a pleasant surprise.  :)

Earlier this morning I noticed we have carnations (I think) growing in one of the flower pots.

Then I had to take a picture of these little rose bushes, David started from the seeds of my climbing rose bush.  I'm just amazed at how well they are doing.  As you can see they have been blooming.  It's a wonder their little stems can hold up the blooms.

Just another example of God's amazing creation.  Don't you think?

Sitting here, I've noticed red wasps going in out out of our attic through a small opening in the ceiling.   I'm thinking that is not good.

Well my battery is getting low on my laptop, so I'll sign off for now.

Have a great Saturday!

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

What to do...

Fantastic Friday to you!

I went to bed early last night, around 11:00 p.m. or so... and anytime I do that I'm awake between 5:30 and 6:00 in the morning.  Well, I'm ready for work but it's not time to leave.   I thought about leaving early, since we are having a yard sale today, but then I remembered I couldn't clock in early, due to limited overtime at work.  What to do....

It's already muggy outside, or I would be out there with David, but I don't want to get all sweaty then go to work.  You know?

So here I am writing my blog.

We already have had several people drop by, even before it was time to start.   I hope that is a good sign for David and the kids today.  Hopefully it will stay busy and we can move a lot stuff out.

Tomorrow I will do my time, with the yard sale.

What is it about Fridays?  You know... that feeling of anticipation, and there's a spring in your step that was missing earlier in the week.  ???

Well that's it for now.   I will need to leave for work here in a few minutes.

Have a great day!

God bless and keep you,
Sonia

The Smell of Rain...

Rain moved in today.
Prayers have been answered.

On my way home this evening the wind picked up and clouds rolled in.  As I drove south, toward Paris, there was lighting to the west and a rainbow to the east.

How often do you see something like that?

I could smell the rain in the air, as I got closer to home.

When I got home, I hurried into the house to get my camera, because the rainbow was still bright against  the dark clouds.

I also heard a hissing noise coming from my car.  Yes, I picked up a nail or something.   My tire wasn't low yet but is was hissing like crazy.

Anyway... here are the pics I got of the rainbow and the glorious rain we were blessed with.
Rainbow

First the sky had a green cast to it...

Then it turned orange....

Then the rain came down heavy.
The smell of rain, makes me think of renewal and cleansing.   You know the rain is going to wash everything down and settle the dust.  You know it is going to bring life or rejuvenation to all the dry and dying vegetation.

That's a lot like what happens when you  trust in the Lord.  God's grace washes over you, bringing you new life and cleansing you of your past.

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures.  We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.  But when the kindness and love of God or Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.  ~ Titus 3:3-7

Day of Peace...

“Lord whatever this heavy feeling is, take it away and help me to be strong and faithful to You.”

This morning there was static or disquiet in my soul.  I whispered the words above, pleading for release from that bondage.

As I drove to work, down the winding road through sleepy communities with fields in between of corn and bean, a peace came over me.   I saw the road before me with many cracks that need to be filled and many others that have been, creating a spider web effect across the road.

How so like life, I thought.

We go through times of “cracks” so often in our life and if we cry out to God, He answers.  Maybe not right when you want Him to, but He does answer at the right time when we truly need it and He never lets us go through more than we can handle.    As I continued on my way, the last 15 minutes of my commute was spent in the presence of Jehovah.   What a precious way to restart my day.

Here’s wishing you a day of peace!

God bless and keep you,

Sonia

Wrapping up my week...

It's been a busy week and weekend.

Today was truly a day of rest for me.   This afternoon I laid down for a nap... and slept for four hours.

My nephew, Lucan, turned 4 years old this week and his party was at the park yesterday.   He got a load of gifts from both sides of the family.  I didn't get them all but I got a few pics.

I also got to spend some time with my niece, Faith.   I took her to the swings and that little girl loved it.   When I gave her a push, her eyes lit up and she started laughing.   I wish I had my camera with me at that time but alas I left it on the picnic table with the family.

After the birthday party and visiting with family, I had salsa to make.

Earlier in the week I bought 5 lbs. of tomatoes and decided I would make a few pints of salsa.  I had enough to get 4 pints with some left over, which we had with our lunch this afternoon.   I found the recipe on-line and it is a good one.   I was happy with that, because you never really know what a recipe is going to be like until you make it.

I also found a lamp at a antique shop in the town I work in, last week, and bought it on my lunch break this past Friday. I think it looks good on my piano.

In my Jr. High Girls Sunday School class this morning, we went over the Lord's Supper for our lesson.   I have to say, teaching those young ladies is such a blessing to me.   After our lesson we chatted for a few minutes, and they have planned on decorating the classroom.  I think it is going to look cute when it is all done.  I asked them, as we were wrapping it up, "so your going to make it a"girlie girl" room?" The reply was "yes but not with a lot of pink."  :)   "Cool!"   It is good to see them excited about the class and wanting to make it their own.

I guess that's all I have for now.

Here's wishing you a wonderful week ahead.

God bless and keep you,
Sonia
